Sunday 8th February - walk *** – Landguard Nature Reserve – sunny periods.

After yesterdays gloomy drizzle today was much better with light winds and sunny periods, we had the Granddaughter coming in the afternoon which gave me enough time to do my exercises and have a walk. We drove down to down to the Manor for a walk around the Nature Reserve, we have never seen it so busy but managed to find a spot and set off along the path nnearest to the dock, the wind was very light and the sea was very smooth! I only took my long lens in hope of spotting the snow buntings but we only saw a robin! We reached the River Orwell and walked out onto the small wooden pier just as the container ship was being helped off its berth by three tugs! The sun disappeared and the breeze picked up a little making it feel cooler as we followed the Orwell to the seafront, there was a sea angling club competition going on and we had a nice chat one of them who we knew:) We watched the container ship leave the river before we set off across the reserve but no birds were spotted and back to the van having another chat with a windsurfing mate and home for a cup of homemade soup before our company arrived, Maeva with her mum and dad. Once again she was in fine form!
